2. Application of New Zealand law
This policy is prepared under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). Where you access our site from overseas, local laws may also apply; we still handle your information fairly and securely.

4. Why we collect it (IPP 1–4)
We collect information for clear purposes: responding to enquiries, supplying guides and facilitation, improving site security, complying with tax and consumer law, and sending marketing only where you have opted in.
5. Collection from you (IPP 2–3)
We collect information directly from you where practicable. If we receive information about you from a third party (for example a design partner referring your enquiry), we will take reasonable steps to make sure you are aware of that collection.
6. Storage, retention, and location
Enquiry records are kept up to 24 months unless needed longer for disputes. Financial records are retained for seven years under New Zealand tax requirements. Server logs are deleted or anonymised after 90 days. Data may be stored in New Zealand or with overseas providers that offer comparable safeguards; we assess transfers under IPP 12.
7. Security safeguards (IPP 5)
We use HTTPS, role-based access, and staff confidentiality obligations. No online system is perfectly secure; please use a private email address for sensitive household details.
8. Disclosure (IPP 11)
We disclose information only to service providers who help us operate the website, post guides, or process payments, and where law requires disclosure. We do not sell personal information.
9. Your rights (IPP 6–7 and access)
You may request access to and correction of personal information we hold about you. Contact us using the details above. We will respond within 20 working days where the Privacy Act requires it. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: privacy.org.nz.
10. Notifiable privacy breaches
If a privacy breach causes serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
11. Marketing and cookies
Promotional emails are sent only with consent and include unsubscribe instructions under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Non-essential cookies run only after you consent via our banner.
12. Children
Our site is intended for adults organising households. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16 without guardian consent.
13. Changes
We publish updates on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes may also be noted on the home page.
